"Next October" is a collective Israeli remembrance initiative where companies honor the memory of fallen soldiers and murdered civilians from the October 2023 war, by carrying forward their stories and values. NeuroHelp chose to honor the legacy of Captain Roey Biber, whose story has touched our team deeply.
Roey Biber was a promising mechanical engineering student at Ben-Gurion University. He was known for his radiant smile and striking blue eyes – but even more for how he brought people together. Friends describe Roey as "the glue" of their group – the one who made sure everyone felt included and valued. He had a tradition of gathering everyone for a toast, emphasizing unity and the celebration of life's small moments. Roey was also an IDF officer in the engineering corps, and was called up for reserve duty on October 7, 2023. Tragically, Roey fell on November 18, 2023, defending the country he loved. He was 28 years old at the time of his death, and was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Tzur Moshe, where he was born and grew up. Roey left behind his parents, two sisters and a spouse.
NeuroHelp was born in Ben-Gurion University, the same university Roey attended. Realizing that Roey walked the same campus halls as some of our team and could have easily been a colleague or friend, we felt a poignant connection. The values that Roey embodied – unity, dedication, modesty, and excellence – are values we strive to uphold at NeuroHelp: we work as one team, interdisciplinary and ego-free, just as Roey brought diverse people together. We push through research challenges with perseverance, knowing our mission can change lives – a dedication akin to Roey's commitment to his country and friends. Humility keeps us grounded; we know our achievements build on those who came before, and we serve a cause greater than ourselves. Excellence drives us to make Epiness™ the best it can be.
NeuroHelp is humbled to be part of Next October. Roey's story reminds us that beyond business goals and milestones, our work is about people – real lives that we hope to improve and protect. May Roey's memory be a blessing and a guiding light for all of us at NeuroHelp.
